There’s something weird about how polished the web has become.

Every startup has the same cards, the same rounded buttons, the same enormous gradient heading telling you to unlock your potential or whatever.

Personal sites don’t need any of that.

The good kind of ugly

The interesting part of brutalist-inspired design isn’t making things intentionally shitty.

It’s removing all the visual language that exists purely because somebody decided that’s what a modern website is supposed to look like.

Borders can just be borders.

Buttons can look like buttons.

A giant headline can just sit there and yell at you.

Constraints make things interesting

Once you stop reaching for the same component library every time, you actually have to make decisions again.

And that’s where a site starts feeling like it belongs to somebody.
